A stunning catch is made by Agha Salman : Video

During the first ODI of the three-match series against New Zealand in Karachi on Monday, Agha Salman of Pakistan made an incredible catch. With a full-length dive to his right, Salman could snag the ball and end Finn Allen’s productive stint at the crease, as the Kiwi opener scored 29 runs off 27 balls.

In a historic moment, both Usama Mir of Pakistan and Henry Shipley of New Zealand are making their debuts in the ODI format during today’s match. The last time these two teams faced off was in the 2019 World Cup, where Pakistan emerged victorious thanks to Babar Azam’s undefeated century in a six-wicket win in Birmingham. In their previous bilateral series in 2018, the outcome was a 1-1 draw as the final match was abandoned due to inclement weather. This series against New Zealand presents Pakistan with an opportunity to ascend to the top spot in the ODI rankings.

If Pakistan can achieve a clean sweep of New Zealand in the three-match series, they will leapfrog to the number one ranking with 114 rating points. Currently sitting in fifth place with 107 rating points, Pakistan has won their last three ODI series against the Netherlands, West Indies, and Australia. On the other hand, New Zealand holds the top spot with 116 rating points. A win for Pakistan in this series would mark their fourth consecutive series victory.
