Bank manager killed by security guards has buried, clerics call murder unjust

In Punjab’s Khushab district, a security guard of a bank had shot dead a manager on charges of blasphemy. The slain was laid to rest today and a large number of people, including religious scholars, attended his funeral prayers. Funeral participants raised their hands and testified that it was an unjust killing and that the victim was innocent.

Funeral prayers of slain Imran Hanif were offered by local religious scholar Maulana Izharul Hassan. Addressing the participants on occasion, Maulana Izharul Hassan said, “When this case (murder) took place, and people gathered around. People thought he might have insulted the Holy Prophet, and the security guard may have acted like Ghazi Ilm Din Shaheed. So people started kissing his hands and shouting slogans.

“People should know now that this was not the case,” he said. Please raise your hand and tell me that this is unjust killing.

Thousands of mourners raised their hands to testify to the innocence of the deceased and buried him with tears in their eyes after the funeral prayers.
